WonHundred Word Wednesday: Strange wailing

It is Wednesday again, friends! I love Wednesday (and Tuesday when I get to write these stories)! This week, I want to give a big thank you to everyone who has come here to read my stories. It means a lot to me to have family and friends who support me! Anyway, here you are:

The prompt: There was a strange wailing sound coming from the next room

My story:

The room came into focus as she slowly opened her eyes. In the dim light from the grimy window, she could see the rusty bars and the dirt hall beyond. She tried to push herself up but was pulled down by the weight of the chains around her wrists. Her heart pounded as fear filled her. What had she done?

There was a strange wailing sound coming from the next room.

“Who’s there?” She called.

A forlorn moan was the only response.

“Please, can you help me?”

A gravelly voice answered, “I cannot help you, no one leaves here alive.”

Check out everyone else's stories and leave me a comment!

  1. I love this one. It gorgeously describes the fear that would accompany that situation. I want more.
