About Me

I have loved writing for almost as long as I can remember.  The first book I wrote was in first grade and it was about a leprechaun. All I remember about it is that it was written on leprechaun shaped paper! My other favorite early work was a continuation of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" that I wrote when I was 8 years old. I reread it years later and was reminded of how the mind of a child works when I read that for my main character's birthday she received several rooms completely filled with candy!  Isn't that the dream of every child?

I grew up in the California San Francisco Bay Area.  In high school I ran cross country and track and participated off and on in band playing the flute. I found another huge passion in high school, ceramics!  I dream of one day having a ceramic studio of my own! A few other interests of mine are being outdoors, sewing, scrapbooking, and crafting.

I attended Brigham Young University-Idaho and graduated with an AS. My sophomore year I met this great guy named Jesse. We started off as really good friends and I credit our relationship to that.  We started dating a few months after we met and after spending 4 months in different states, we got married a year after we started dating. We moved to Utah rather suddenly in 2008 for Jesse to go to school and we've been here since!  We have three adorable children, two boys and a girl, who bring so much joy and fun (and craziness) into our lives!

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I love the gospel and have been so blessed by my membership in the Church.  I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He and our Father in Heaven love and know each of us individually.  They care about the things that are important to us.

While most of my books don't have a religious theme to them, they do keep in line with my standards.  You won't find crude language, extreme violence or sexual content in my books.  I don't like to read it, and I don't like to write it. I hope to be able to write many entertaining books that will leave the reader feeling uplifted.  I also hope to be able to share my love of writing with others and support other writers as they make their own journeys!

Fun Facts!

Favorite Color: Blue! But the close second is turquoise.

Favorite Food: Italian, I love pasta!

Favorite Beverage: I honestly think there is nothing more refreshing than a glass of cool water.  I also happen to be a huge fan of smoothies, however.

Favorite Movies:  I love Jane Austen movies, especially Pride and Prejudice (BBC version, of course). When I watch them, I can't help but talk in a (very authentic) British accent for the rest of the day.  I'm also a HUGE Pirates of the Caribbean fan, and I grew up on Disney movies, which I still, to this day, absolutely love. One of my all time favorite Disney songs is "Be a Man" from Mulan!

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?: I hate cleaning the bathroom, especially the toilet. I don't know why, but even after I've just cleaned it, it still seems gross to me.

What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?: I fought with my siblings a lot. I am the oldest of six, so there was always someone to play with, but also someone to fight with.  Luckily, as we've grown up, we've stopped fighting and actually all have really good relationships with each other.

What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?:  "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts.  I love this song so much!  Rascal Flatts was my "gateway" into country music.  I used to hate it, and I still can't stand the really twangy songs, but I love a good country tune! (I guess that's also what happens when you marry a farm boy from Idaho!)
