WonHundred Word Wednesday: Clearing Ground

Hey readers! Here we are at Wednesday again, can you believe it? Hope you're ready for this week's story!

The Prompt: He itched to clear the ground, to look out and see nothing

My Story:

He itched to clear the ground, to look out and see nothing but forest and lake. Muttering under his breath, he set to work.

Early the next morning, he stood at his window, hiding a smile in his cup of coffee. Smoke and ashes filled the air, but there was no obstruction to his sunrise. The firemen hadn’t arrived in time to save the building. It was the thought of her there with another man that drove him to it. She should have known better then to build a cabin facing his on their split land. She’d know better now.

WonHundred Word Wednesday: Not the First Time, Not the Last.

It's Wednesday! Here's my 100 word story for the week!

The prompt: Someone must have seen him, because the police were at his door

My story:

Damien hurried to the sink in the garage. It took three times washing his hands before they came clean. He retrieved the bundle from the car, opened the hidden compartment under a cupboard, and stashed it there before going inside. Red and blue light flashed through his window. Someone must have seen him, because the police were at his door. He wiped his hands on his jeans and took three steadying breaths. Composing his face into a calm expression was easy, he’d done it so often. Charming smile in place, he answered the door. “Hello, officers. Can I help you?”
