Here we are again! Wednesdays keep coming faster and faster. I can't believe it's here all ready. I won't keep you waiting any longer.
This week's prompt: He had waited twenty years to return it.
My story:
He stopped dead in his
tracks, his heart mimicking his feet before springing back to life. There had
only been a glimpse, but he was sure of the face he'd seen. Urging his feet
to movement, he rushed through the crowded mall.
She appeared again and
he moved faster, eager not to miss his chance. He caught her hand, relieved that
it was bare. She turned, her eyes filled with shock. It had been twenty long, regret-filled
years since she had given him a precious gift. And he had waited far too long
to return it.
“I love you, too.”
I hope you've enjoyed this week's story, and I hope you'll take a few minutes to enjoy the other stories posted by these awesome writers as well.

Wow. Waiting 20 years to return that. It really makes you wonder what her reaction is. They obviously didn't stay in touch.
