WonHundred Word Wednesday: The Slip

Hey there readers! It's Wednesday again and I'm here with another Flash Fiction for ya. This week, I bring you a tiny bit from my book Circumstance. So once again, we travel back to Regency England.

The prompt: Her foot slipped ans she started to fall

My Story:

Audrey stepped on a sheet of hard ice. Her foot slipped and she started to fall. Mr. Bryant caught her easily about the waist, holding her until she regained her footing. She lifted her face toward his, a mere breath away, her heart thudding mercilessly. He released her, but laced her hand through his arm.

“Perhaps I ought to assist you.”

Audrey nearly argued, knowing the battle between mind and heart that would ensue. But the tenderness in his eyes convinced her to accept. Besides, the day was fine, the company more than pleasant, and it was Christmas after all.

This is a piece of a scene that I just love! I fixed it up to match the prompt a little nicer than the original scene. This book is not yet published, but I can't wait for the time that it's ready! I hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to check out our Facebook page to read the rest of the stories. Happy reading!

  1. I love how the characters are developed. You can tell there is so much more there. Nice job of reducing a scene you love.
