The prompt: It would only be a fling.
My story:
It would only be a fling. Just a harmless little fling. She
repeated this mantra repeatedly, convincing herself it was true.
Though a corner of her mind whispered it was false. Muttered
that if she indulged, even just this once, the repercussions could be dreadful.
Or they could be blissful and sweet. She eyed the temptation, weighing the
consequences. The lies, the money, the relaxation, the peace.
Taking a deep breath, she pushed the confirm button on the
Hawaiian vacation package. The plane would leave tomorrow. Exhilaration filled
her as she called her boss, trying her best to sound sick.
