WonHundred Word Wednesday: Key

Ready or not, here you go! It's Wednesday, everyone!

Prompt: Reluctantly he handed over the key.

My story:

He looked up at the house they had planned and built together; thought of the laughter and the memories in those walls. Where had the life he had dreamed of gone?

Back in the car, packed with their 3 kids and all their belongings, his wife stared longingly at the house. He had promised her the world, but with two words, their lives were tossed upside down. First his job, now their home, gone.

Reluctantly he handed over the key, retreated to the car. His wife took his hand, smiled through the tears. “Never forget, we still have each other.”

  1. Love how they can still go on together. Tough experiences are always better with someone to share it with and help you on.

  2. Such a hard thing. But I too love that they are tackling it together instead of letting it tear them apart. Well done!
