WonHundred Word Wednesday: Waiting for Contact

Have you missed me!? It's been a long time since I've been able to post one of these lovelies. But I'm here now, and hopefully I'll be getting caught up soon. For today though, here is your story!

The prompt: She kept checking her phone and email, wishing someone would make contact

My story:

Jessica crouched in the dark alley. She kept checking her phone and email, wishing someone would make contact. They’d never been late before. She’d followed their instructions perfectly, including not involving the police. She gripped the bulging envelope tighter in her hand, almost dropping it when her phone vibrated. Saying a not-so-silent prayer, she followed new instructions, before returning to the alley.

Minutes passed like hours.

Finally, a car rolled in front of the alley. A small form fell through the open door before the car sped away.

Tears flew from Jessica’s face as she ran to embrace her son.

There you have it! I hope you liked it and as always, make sure to check out the other stories below!
